Art Vocabulary Zentangle- is a method of creating images by drawing structured patterns. String-curved line or squiggle drawn inside the border. Tangle-pattern drawn along the contours of the string. Pattern-repeating art elements to create a design. Line- continuous mark on a surface.
Origins It was developed by a married couple, Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts. Maria is a botanical illustrator and a calligrapher. Rick spent many years as a monk. They noticed that many of the aspects of meditation, which Rick practiced as a monk, were present when Maria was working on detailed, repetitive pattern work.
