Cardiologists are the doctor s of heart. They treat patients with many different medical conditions. For example, they may treat patients with heart defects, heart infections, heart arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), or hypertension (high blood pressure). After diagnosing the problem, the cardiologist begins treatments. This often involves prescribing medication for the patient. Sometimes it also means advising the patient to make some lifestyle changes. For example, a patient may need to get more exercise, eat healthier food, and stop smoking. - Cardiologists usually work in hospitals and medical clinics. Some are self-employed and run their own clinics or offices. Local travel between medical offices and hospitals may be required for cardiologists to see and treat their patients. - Like other doctors, cardiologists work long hours. Most put in between 50 and 60 hours a week, although some work even longer hours. They are often required to work evenings and weekends in order to accommodate their patients.

-The first step in becoming a cardiologist is to complete at least 2 to 3 years of a bachelor’s degree at university, including several required science courses. This is the minimum requirement for admission to medical school. - - Once you have earned a bachelor’s degree, you usually need to write the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). -Medical school takes 4 years to complete. You must then complete a series of residencies, periods of practical, on-the-job training that take place in hospitals or other medical settings. -3-year training program in cardiology to specialize in pediatric cardiology complete at least 3 years of a pediatrics residency and a 3-year pediatric cardiology training program.
