On flip chart: BEING ALIVE –status LIVING –experience. (I.e. just because we’re alive, doesn’t automatically mean we’ll Live with a capital L) BEING FREE – status LIVING FREE – experience

Romans 8:15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

2 Corinthians 6:1-2 As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. 2 …I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Two Types of Righteousness: 1.“Positional” Righteousness: - my STATUS

Romans 5:17-19 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ…

18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

Romans 8:10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.

Romans 6:13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Philippians 1:9-11 And this is my prayer:...that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Two types of “Obedience” 1.Legalistic Obedience 2.Life-giving Obedience

Proverbs 13:14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.

Matthew 19:17 “… If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.”

Proverbs 6:23 For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life. Proverbs 4:4 He taught me and said, “Lay hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
