Integrating skills writing

Lead-in Read aloud or recite the poem you have chosen. Are you interested in English poems now?

Reading Please read the passage on page 31 fast and find out: How did the writer learn to enjoy poems? Reading aloud, enjoying the rhythm, the rhyme and the sound of the words; Starting with small poems.

1. How do you feel when you read or listen to it? 2. What makes you think it beautiful? DUST OF SNOW The way a crow Shook down on me The dust of snow From a hemlock tree Has given my heart A change of mood And saved some part Of a day I had rued. Listening Listen to the tape, and try to follow it.

Outline: (Three paragraphs) 1. What is the poem about? 2. What images do you see in your mind? 3. What do you think of the poem? Writing A poem review Writing together: Read the poem and find out answers to the above three questions:

Sample writing: About Dust of Snow It is about the beauty of nature. I see a person in a bad mood early that day. But later on, when he walked About Dust of Snow It is about the beauty of nature. I see a person in a bad mood early that day. But later on, when he walked or stood under a hemlock tree, a crow on the tree happened to shake its feathers, and snow from the tree fell down on him, which changed his mood and made him a bit less unhappy. I like the poem very much because of its of its rhyming sounds and the fluent patterns of rhythm. The language is simple, so I can understand it easily. Also, nature is so great and beautiful that it can change people’s mood.

Writing by yourself: RIGHT HERE WAITING Ocean apart day after day, And I slowly go insane. I hear your voice on the line, but it doesn't stop the pain. If I see you next to never, How can we say forever? Wherever you go, whatever you do I will be right here waiting for you whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks I will be right here waiting for you.

Now find an English poem and write a review. Please write it in three paragraphs. Homework
