Presentation transcript:

Some of us went to Accrington and Rossendale College to find out about jobs we can do outside. We were taught how to put on helmets and harnesses and tie a ‘figure of 8’ knot. The students also showed us how to make a tent out of canvas (with no poles!), so that no air escapes. We think we would now know how to keep warm in freezing or dangerous conditions.

Engineering and Construction We went into the workshop and the car garage to find out if we would like to do practical, hands-on jobs. We learned how to:  Make a volt out of fruit (an orange and a lemon)  Make a nail spin using a car battery  Stain wood to achieve different affects. We really enjoyed it in the garage and would have loved to get our hands on some of the cars! We definitely think we have some mechanics of the future in our class!

What we learned We found out that you have to be very responsible to work outside or with cars and machinery. In difficult conditions and with dangerous products, serious harm could be caused to yourself and others if you don’t act with care. We also learned that you have to work well as part of a team to get the job done.
