{ Being one of the largest concentration camps run by the Nazis, approximately million people lost their lives here during World War II. “Work Makes One Free” The main entrance to the camp (pictured above) had the saying, “Arbeit Macht Frei.” This translates to “Work Makes One Free”

{ Located in South Poland Was originally a prison for Polish inhabitants arrested by German soldiers Expanded into a concentration camp where prisoners were executed, put in gas chambers, tortured, or spared to be used as slaves Location/ Purpose
