EXHIBITION SELF ASSESSMENT BY DENIS

MAKE GENERALIZATIONS AND DRAW CONCLUSIONS BASED ON THE NEW KNOWLEDGE I GAINED FROM EXHIBITION. I learned that most of the people that I asked to do my survey said that hacking is good and bad at the same time and their opinions where things that are good and bad about hacking, they talked about things like how hacking can help your computer and how it is used in bad way. I agree with the people who said both because I also think that hacking is good and bad in many ways.

FORM OPINIONS BASED ON NEW KNOWLEDGE I LEARNED I learned that there are more websites that help with education that are on the web. I also learned a lot about computers (so things like what are computers made from, how do they work, how have they changed over time, how have they changed over time etc.) I also learned how to build a website and many things that can improve my website. I think that it is good that there are way more websites for education and the other things.

CONNECT SPECIFIC KEY AND RELATED CONCEPTS TO THE NEW KNOWLEDGE I LEARNED I choose form because I had no idea before what computers were made out of, the question was what are computers made from, I learned that the tubes for cooling the computer are made out of silicone and the wire connectors are made out of zinc or tin, the cooling is mostly water based.

MAKE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE NEW KNOWLEDGE I GAINED The connections in my project were things like hacking, hacking connects to schooling because online education is basically hacking schooling, so what I mean by hacking schooling is you don’t have to go to school to learn. Computers connect to hacking because hacking is mostly used on computers and online education connects to computers because online education is mostly on computers.

EXPLAIN CONNECTIONS BETWEEN NEWLY GAINED KNOWLEDGE AND THE “HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES” TRANS-DISCIPLINARY THEME The beliefs and discover and express ideas are connected to my exhibition by things like: my belief is that everybody should have a right for free education and that people are allowed to express and discover ideas through hacking without doing any bad to the people around us.

EXPLAIN HOW I USED NEWLY GAINED KNOWLEDGE TO INQUIRE FURTHER INTO MY ISSUE When I was making my website I thought I finished it but then I inquired to add in more websites, also when we were doing the practice exhibition Aj. Brian told me that I could do something else to adjust my website, so I inquired in what he showed me to do and the website became better. I also inquired that I think I should change the style of the website so it looks better, and I did that.

EXPLAIN HOW I GAINED NEW KNOWLEDGE FROM MY RESEARCH I gained new knowledge from researching into computers (so things like the key concept questions etc.) The key concept questions were: why are computers designed the way they are, how have they changed over time, how do they work, does the owner of a computer have a responsibility to use it in a good way and what is a computer manufacturers responsibility. I also researched other peoples opinions on hacking asking “Is Hacking Good or Bad” in a survey form.

ORGANIZE NEWLY GAINED KNOWLEDGE FROM MY RESEARCH I think that my exhibition set up was pretty nice and the PowerPoint and the survey results on the board was ok but I think it should have had a bit more color, I also put up a link box where people can take links and check out the website at home. When I put up a computer for people to look at my website it was a good idea too.

TRANS-DISCIPLINARY SKILLS: WHAT T-D SKILLS DID I APPLY IN MY EXHIBITION In my exhibition I used research skills because I was researching about computers for my PowerPoint, and I found many sources from wiki answers to my thoughts. I also used the research skills in my survey, I researched peoples opinions on hacking through my survey. I used self-management skills in my exhibition by managing where and how would my exhibition spot be set up, and it was pretty organized. I also used my thinking skills by thinking what else may I add in my PowerPoint, I also used making connections by making connections to hacking and schooling.

WHAT PYP ATTITUDES DID I USE IN MY EXHIBITION I used appreciation by appreciating what people told me, I used creativity by: instead of only making a PowerPoint I also made a website, and nobody except Marcus thought of making a website. I also used it putting up the PowerPoint on the board. I used curiosity by asking peoples opinions on hacking, I also used it by finding out things about computers. I used empathy by having empathy for those who cant go to school so I made a website for purposes like that.

COMMITMENT TO MY ACTION FOR A SUSTAINED LENGTH OF TIME I am still committed to my exhibition because I got surveyed by some kids from a school that uses my website and some of them gave me their Facebook. If I find anything new for the website I could also do it. The kids also said I can come to their school in Bangkok.

TAKE ACTION USING OPINIONS I FORMED FROM MY RESEARCH I formed my opinions from Aj. Dan who helped me to get the idea to make a website. And he helped me in other things.
