GSWA Services The Stream Team provides the GSWA with one of its two primary services: Water quality monitoring

Vision We protect the the water you drink Mission Promote and protect the safety of the water we drink

Stream Team Goals & Objectives Monitor water quality and communicate findings to stakeholders in the watershed and beyond Identify areas in need of restoration and employ sound restoration techniques where applicable and feasible To be the most recognized and credible environmental agency in the area concerning the safety and quality of the water –Strong scientific and technological presence –Be a well-known and respected "player" in any water advocacy issue that arises in the watershed To create community stewards – align efforts with community interests –Successfully create new stream "stewards" in the watershed Strengthen partnerships –To strengthen our partnerships with other groups, both inside and outside of GSWA, with complementary interests

THE GSWA STREAM TEAM ROADMAP (How do we get there?)  Implement QA/QC procedures in all work to ensure integrity of results  Conduct chemical analysis on streams in the watershed to identify contaminants, their sources, and trends over time.  Measure flows of the feeder streams under baseline and storm conditions.  Conduct visual stream assessments throughout the watershed and submit completed forms to the NJDEP’s Division of Watershed Management.  Solicit expert opinion where necessary to help explain results.  Educate the public on water quality issues/projects/results through newsletters, display boards, press releases, etc.  Stay up-to-date on water quality related topics.

Program Discussion All programs should support GSWA’s strategic intent –Protect drinking water and preserve land to maintain the natural beauty and enhance the livability of your town
