Types of Sculpture
Relief Sculpture in which forms project out from a flat surface (floor, wall, ceiling, etc.) The degree of projection ranges from high to low relief.
Three –quarter work A physical object that is designed to be viewed from the front and sides only. Differs from relief in that a flat surface is not required; can be a head dress, jewelry pin or necklace for instance.
Freestanding, or works in the round Sculpture that is self supporting and is designed to be viewed from all sides.
Installation Art An artwork or design that presents a cohesive ensemble of images and objects within a three- dimensional environment.
Kinetic forms A form that moves by the power of wind, motor, viewer or a work that is static but suggests motion.
Earthworks Works that transforms natural sites into sculptural settings
Performance art A live presentation which may combine elements from a variety of art forms, such as, film, theater, dance
