Presentation transcript:

Embedding Professional Standards the SMART way Peter Hartley Ruth Whitfield

2 How can we engage those other than enthusiasts in developing their teaching practice to ensure they are inspiring and enhancing the student experience? Key problem:

3 Contributory issues: Unsupported culture. No career progression. Lack of tools. The construct gap.

4 What did we think SMART could do? Skills Mapping and Reflection Tool. Raise awareness. Stimulate reflection. Enable closet participation. Provide a framework and starting point for PGCHEP participants. Support PDP processes with students.

5 Demonstration

6 What have we found? Our most recent update on: How many users? Where do they come from? What are they doing?

7 Assessment of impact: Our most recent update on: Direct impact on users. Impact on development providers. Spin off and serendipity.

8 What next? More evaluation. Further refinement. Attack the other issues. Feed into performance review.
