All About Me… Whitney Taylor EDU 692 Introduction

– Part I.- The demographic factors I chose to identify with are as follows: – Family Structures- being that family structure is the combination of relatives that embraces a family, I feel like this identifies my personal identity. From what I can remember, my grandparents started a family having 6 children. That is what I was used to as a child growing up. As time evolved, our family has gotten larger with a mixture of family structures. We have married, divorced, separated and single family members. – Religious Affiliations- I chose this factor because I grew up in the church and my grandfather who is like the rock of the family is actually the founder and pastor of my home church here is Greensboro, NC. I am a Christian and I love God and going to church. – Ethnic/racial background- I chose this factor because I am an African American female. Both of my parents are African American as well my grandparents. On my mom’s side her grandmother was Cherokee Indian.

My Life Story – Part II. Short narrative story: – Growing up was filled with great memories. My foundation of life was set from a spiritual view. I was raised in the church where I was extremely active. My family is considered a musical family. We love all types of music and instruments. My talent is dancing while majority of my family members sing and play instruments. My parents made it their priority to give me the best life they could provide. I wouldn’t say I wanted for anything. However they instilled the value of hard work and education. My younger sister and I grew up in a house and went to public and charter school as well we both graduated 4 year colleges. My family taught me to always believe in God and to look to him first. They are big on keeping family close. My family teaches to love, respect and honor God and family.

My Life Story – Just like my mom, I have two fathers. So when I was born she gave me her stepfathers last name “Taylor”. Her biological father’s last name was Henryhand which is Cherokee. This name is not a popular name so whenever I hear the name I automatically know that somehow we are related. Both of my moms parents originated in South Carolina, Kings Tree and Florence.
