IBM's Academic Initiative (AI) is an innovative global program to collaborate with educators to better educate students for a smarter planet and a more competitive information technology workforce. The initiative offers a wide range of education technology benefits that can be scaled to meet the goals of most educational institutions, ranging from large universities to community colleges. The IBM Academic Initiative program provides its members with no charge access to a myriad of resources for integration into college curricula to help teach students how to master the fast growing market of open technologies. IBM also seeks to develop commercial, research and student hiring (graduates, interns) relationships with selected universities in Australia and New Zealand.
