Presentation transcript:

 The Commutative Properties of Addition and Multiplication state: changing the order of the addends does not change the sum changing the order of the factors does not change the product  EX: A + B = B + A A * B = B * A

 The Associative Properties of Addition and Multiplication states that: changing the grouping of the addends does not change the sum. changing the grouping of the factors does not change the product.  EX: (A + B) + C = A + (B + C) (A * B) * C = A * (B * C)

 The Identity Properties of Addition and Multiplication state that: the sum of any real number and 0 is the original number the product of any real number and 1 is the original number  Ex: a + 0 = a a * 1 = a

 The Zero Property of Multiplication states that the product of a real number and 0 is 0  EX: 5 * 0 = 0

 The Distributive Property is an algebra property which is used to multiply a single term and two or more terms inside a set of parentheses  Ex: 2(3 + 6) = 2(3) + 2(6) = = 18

 =  10 * 1 = 10  = 6  2 + ( 4 + 3)=(2 + 4) + 3  7 * 0 = 0  5 * 4 = 4 * 5 Identify the Property Being Shown Below
