 I Peter 3:8-22

 The God Life is a Blessed Life  We were chosen by God to be blessed. It is His plan for our life.  Jeremiah 29:11 “ 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the L ORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  We have a choice to live in blessing or to live in curse.  Choose Life and be Blessed

 The tongue is the second most often mentioned category of sin in the Bible behind sexual sins. ◦ James 3:6 “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” ◦ Prov 17:20 “He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.”

 Prov 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”  We are encouraged to speak blessings rather than curses. He will retaliate against those that speak curses. ◦ Gen 12:3 “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

 God’s Thoughts: ◦ Prov 10:31-32 “The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out. 32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.” ◦ Ps 15:1-3 “LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.”

How do you see yourself?
