Sometimes there is a fine line between what duties are a supervisor, and which one’s are the responsibility of the staff. The following slides will illustrate the separation.

SUPERVISOR STAFF Sets policy on finance, personnel and other matters Provides information to board. Implements approved policies

SUPERVISORSTAFF Ensures proper management. Follows policy and uses sound judgment in all board business and financial transactions Compiles information and keeps board informed of all business transactions. Alerts board to any potential ethic or legal issue

SUPERVISORSTAFF Determines and approves program action Implements board approved programs and recommendations

SUPERVISOR STAFF Determines and approves program actions Implements board approved programs and recommendations.

SUPERVISORSTAFF Recruits, hires and evaluates staff. Develops, reviews and approves personnel policies Helps draft personnel policies.

SUPERVISORSTAFF Recruits new members or associates. Oversees district operations. Provides for ongoing staff supervision and training. Suggests candidates for board membership and consideration. Prepares and distributes minutes assists in training new board members

SUPERVISORSTAFF Develops and approves operating budget and ALL expenditures. Provides for keeping district financial records. Prepares transactions for review.

SUPERVISOR STAFF Determines outreach efforts and programs. Represents the district and programs to the public as determined by the Board.

All decisions go through the board …ALL of them Staff implements decisions of the board Staff may suggest a program or policy but any formal decisions are the boards alone to make.
