The Associate Degree option: The community colleges offer a wide variety of programs that train students to work in specialized fields. Certificate Programs: Visit the California Community Chancellor's Office for a search of programs and Community College

The Transfer option:  UC/CSU campuses give priority to transfer students  Senate Bill 1440 also known as AA-T or AS-T is another alternative to transfer in to a CSU  UC continues to maintain or increase the volume of transfers accepted  UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program  Guaranteed admission available to 6 of 9 campuses (not for LA, SD, Berkley).  GPA requirements  UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP)  Honors program completion earns TAP eligibility  18 units GE Honors classes prior to transfer w/GPA 3.0 or higher  Priority admission & early notification, alternate major, TAP scholarships Community College

 CSU Website:  There are 23 CSU campuses throughout California  A-G courses  SAT/ACT  Some CSU schools do ask for information about leadership, extracurricular activities  No letters of recommendation California State University (CSU)

 UC  There are 9 UC campuses throughout California  A-G courses  SAT/ACT  SAT Subject tests (are optional but some majors do recommend them  Personal Statement  Students will complete a section on Honors/Awards, Extracurricular Activities, etc University of California (UC)

UC/CSU Requirements A- Social Science 2 yrs B- English 4 yrs C- Math through Algebra 2 3 yrs D- Science with lab 2 yrs E- Foreign Language 2 yrs F- Visual/Perform Art (yr long) 1 yr G- Elective 1 yr All classes must be passed with a grade of C or better These are the minimum requirements BHS A-G list:

Tests for the College Bound SAT and/or ACT (Spring of 11 th Grade) SAT Subject Tests Take after completing accelerated courses in math, science, foreign language and literature

 Are looking for students who: Rigorous Coursework with B’s or better (Honors/AP) Leadership Qualities (depth in out of classroom activities and out of class accomplishments) Commitment to extracurricular activities/community service Competitive Standardized Test Scores HIGHLY SELECTIVE SCHOOLS

All juniors will be completing Beckman College/Career Application Packet in their English 3/3H class All juniors will be completing a college essay in their English 3/3H class BCAP includes a resume, reflection B and C, timeline agreement sheet signed by student and parent, list of prospective colleges and college research table BCAP is used by teachers and counselors to write letters of recommendation for college, scholarships, internships and leadership opportunities BCAP: What is it?

Used to be called the SSR Items to include in the Beckman Counselor Packet: 1.Resume 2.Reflection B and C 3.List of colleges signed by parent and student 4.College research table 5.Singed FERPA and Transcript Request Agreement Beckman Counselor Packet

 Students will be inviting teachers and counselor’s via the common application or the college specific website (ex. SendEdu)  Common application should become available August 1, 2015  UC application should become available August 1, 2015  CSU application should become available October 1, 2015 Beckman Counselor Packet
