One-to-One Device Presentation Using Technology to Enhance Student Learning

To develop students’ critical literacy skills by using technology as real- world learning tools. These tools will enable students to become facilitators or their own learning, and create meaningful, engaging, interdisciplinary projects that require problem solving and support individual learning styles. The program enhances student learning by providing students with the latest tools to make learning relevant to the goals of the work place, which reinforces 21 st century skills. This is accomplished by facilitating student research, differentiating instruction, accommodating student needs, and augmenting student communication skills. One-to-One Program Purpose

Students should keep their device clean by using a slightly damp cloth. Students should charge their device each night before school. Students should pack their devices in their computer bag when switching between classes or taking them to and from school. Students should not leave charger connected when packing them in their computer bag. Student Rights and Responsibilities

Students who have wireless Internet connections at home are permitted to use the Internet at home. Students cannot connect their device to a printer at home or install a printer. Devices and Home Use Damaged Devices Damaged devices will be replaced, if insured. If a trend of damaged devices develops (3 or more damaged devices), the privilege of taking the device home may be revoked. Parent contact will be made and documented for all device damages.

Keep devices in a central place so you can monitor their internet activity. Know where your child has been on the internet by looking at the history in the browser. Teach children not to communicate or share any personal information with strangers on the internet. Teach children to to respect the privacy of friends and family by not identifying people by name in profiles and pictures. Parent Best Practices for Internet Safety

Remind your child not to give our their passwords to anyone for any reason. Remind your child to unclick the “Remember Me” settings on their computer. Remind your child not to text, , instant message, or post any harmful or inappropriate things on someone’s page. Remind students that just because you see something on line, it does not mean it is true. Make sure students understand that cutting and pasting content directly from the Internet is plagiarism.
