2 Background Information on Eskom has embarked on a drive to create and sustain a world-class culture and standardisation within Eskom Commercial Process regarding Safety, Health and the Environment. This process assists Eskom to determine whether suppliers take reasonably practicable steps to apply Safety, Health, Environment and Quality systems of work; comply with the legislative and Eskom-specific requirements32 – 418 and that is capable of addressing SHEQ adequately. As part of Eskom’s Supplier Management System, it is now a requirement for all suppliers who wish to undertake work for Eskom to undergo an occupational safety, health and environment (SHE) evaluation process.

SHE REQUIREMENTS DURING TENDER PROCESS Annexure B Annexure C 3 The acknowledgement form for Eskom rules and requirements. Level 1 documents/procedures that a Contractor/Supplier must adhere to, (e.g. incident management, smoking policy, cardinal rule/life saving rules procedure) To assess whether the supplier has the capability and capacity to manage SHE adequately for the scope of the work being tendered for. Aim to see if the supplier has any management system in place and capable of providing SHE plan and file to stations as required.

SHE REQUIREMENTS DURING TENDER PROCESS (CONT.) Costing for SHE: Provide the detailed/breakdown list of all cost items for Health and Safety. ( This is based on the overall scope of work to be performed). SHE Management System: Provide the SHE Policy Document Organogram illustrating SHE structure ( This must be converted from generic to scope of work on contract award). Incident Management process: Procedure Management of CA’s and PA’s. 4

COID Provide the medical surveillance programme and the man-job specifications as annexures (do not submit medical reports/certificates). A process for ensuring that Safety, Health, Environmental risks are identified, documented and managed? 5

Details of the SHE Training Matrix. Environmental Management: Does the Company address environmental management? Company provide a method statement or EMP for scope of work? 6
