Leadership Groups Distributed leadership structure for the community – Start with facilitators – Invite in members over time Initial groups – Agenda activists – Community keepers / critical friends – Social reporters / external messengers

Agenda Activists Custodians of the learning agenda Keep track of issues, challenges, and learning opportunities Ask questions such as: What are key issues? Which should we prioritize? Where are we getting stuck? What resources to do need?

Community Keepers / Critical Friends Paying attention to the different voices being heard or not in the community Determining what’s working and what’s not Whose voices or being heard? Whose aren’t? Why, and what can we do about it? Can newcomers find way in? Are we building trust and commitment? What’s working well? What’s not? What kinds of activities and content are proving most engaging? How can we make better use of community members’ time?

Social reporters / External messengers Create a shared memory for the group Take stewardship for the public face of the community What insights, stories, and community outputs should be captured and recorded? How should they be shared? How do we respect privacy? What are key external audiences, and how do we reach them? What are the key messages we want to convey? What support do we need to curate and publish resources or convene events?
