What is Google Apps for Education? ●A cloud based group of programs that provide real-time editing, powerful sharing controls, and seamless compatibility – an ideal environment for learning in the 21st century. ●IT IS NOT JUST AN ACCOUNT, but a Google account that grants students access to technology essential to modern classrooms, while being completely monitored and managed by the school. ●Google Apps can be used anywhere and at anytime provided there is an Internet connection available.

Your Login ●Go to ●Click on blue Sign In, in the upper right corner ●Type in your Mayfield address ●Contact IT for default password ●Reset your password, must be 8 characters

The Devices ●Google Apps are web based, so they can be accessed from any computer or device connected to the Internet. ●Google Apps can be accessed on any type of desktop or laptop computer via a web browser. o Windows o Mac o Linux ●There are downloadable apps for iOS and Android devices.

GMAIL - that CAN BE COMPLETELY MONITORED AND MANAGED by the school district. DRIVE - A collection of Apps for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations and forms. CLASSROOM - A learning management system, where assignments can be electronically assigned, completed, and feedback can be provided. GOOGLE+ - Google’s social media website (like Facebook). No students or teachers will have access to this feature with their Mayfield Schools provided account. PLAY FOR EDUCATION - A collection of interactive Apps, Books, Movies designed for students. Drive ●Users can create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets just like they would using Microsoft Office. ●Users will be able to collaborate and simultaneously work on the same document. ●Users can also create online forms or surveys, and it will automatically collect the data. ●Users are given up to 15GB of storage to store their work.

Classroom Teachers can create, review, and provide feedback on assignments. Students can submit assignments electronically. The assignments page will give students access to all of their assignments in one location. All class materials are automatically filed into folders in the student’s Google Drive. Teachers can post announcements and start class discussions providing students with an online platform for classroom dialogue.
