UTPA GEAR UP Mission The mission of GEAR UP is to significantly increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.
Purpose of Action Council The purpose of the UTPA GEAR UP Action Council is to support our GEAR UP mission.
12 Objectives Improve cohort students’ academic performance Increase the rate of high school graduation Provide opportunities for career exploration Provide opportunities for character, cultural, and leadership development Increase student engagement in community development and service Increase parents’ knowledge of postsecondary education options, preparation and financing to improve their children’s performance
Increase parents’ literacy to improve their children’s academic performance Increase the use of instructional technologies to integrate technology into teaching and learning Offer teacher preparation and curriculum and develop to enhance the quality of the instructional program Increase students’ knowledge of post secondary education options, preparation, and financing Increase rate of postsecondary education through K- 16 alignment
