Did You Shop Online Today?  Anything you need today is available online. Whether it’s groceries, jewellery, clothes, shoes, travel gear or books, whatever it is you’re looking for, is available online.  But is shopping online safe? Many a times, shoppers are concerned whether their personal information will get misused.  They are wonder whether using a credit card or debit card online is safe? There are, however, a few measures that one can take to make the online shopping experience safe and hassle free.  First and foremost, the machine should be completely protected against viruses, malware and spyware.

Tips for a Better Online Shopping Experience  Shopping online is fast, convenient and hassle free. Online, you can look for the best deals, make bids, hunt around for the best option and do much more.  However, there are a few concerns that bother online shoppers. While commercial loss is one concern, loss of identity is another.  When shopping online, your identity is entirely vulnerable to a prying eye.  When online, it can be difficult to tell whether it is a reputable retailer or an impostor.

Cont…  The internet gives a lot of freedom for them to set up fraudulent websites.  Sometimes, viruses, malware and spyware can also be downloaded by mistake, making your machine vulnerable to external attacks.  In this way, they can also access your personal details, such as passwords, payment information etc.  When shopping online, you may also get goods that are either poor in quality or fake.

Precautions for Shopping Online Safely  Do adequate research before buying from an online retailer. Make sure it is a reputable firm. You can verify by calling on their landline telephone number.  Credit cards are safer to use than debit cards online.  Confirm the prices with other websites if possible.  Before clicking on ‘confirm’ make sure all the details are correct. You don’t want any surprises.  Before you enter your personal and payment details, make sure the link is secure. Look out for: 1) A locked padlock symbol on the browser and not on the page. It should appear on the status bar on the bottom of your page or next to the URL. 2) The link on the URL should begin with ‘ and not just ‘ Here, ‘s’ stands for ‘secure’. 3) Most browsers will make the address bar or the site owner’s name green.

Cont…  Always use a secured Wi-Fi connection when making a payment.  Keep your passwords safe. And keep changing your passwords frequently.  Check on return policies.  Log out completely before shutting the browser.  Always keep the receipts till as long as possible.  Never give your credit card details over .  Check your bank statements and credit card statements for any signs of fraudulent use.  Install a reputed and updated antivirus, antispyware and firewall and keep it running at all times.

Conclusion  So whether you shop online for veggies at an online supermarket or purchase a major art piece, your experience can be better when these tips are followed. Happy online shopping to you!online supermarket
