Design Engineering to Customer DE DE sends Preliminary Design Package including Switch Matrix drawing in CAD PDF to customer for approval. Customer Customer approves preliminary or makes changes. Files are then created in Illustrator on multiple art boards in a separate customer book. Any questions about maximum amount of letters, icons and font sizes, custom colors or custom fonts will be addressed in the design specifications guide. Design Engineering to Customer DE DE sends detailed Design Package including a separate switch booklet created in AI and saved as a PDF, to customer for Final approval Customer Customer approves final drawings. DE places Illustrator files on the drive for MBO to eventually retrieve and writes the path on the document M:\ hotel Name\Submittal Documents\Approved\Artwork (DE) Each Switch will be on it’s own page, set up as it would be for direct output to films by MBO. All the Illustrator layers will be locked so not to be accidentally moved after this point and a separate layer for information will be added with the Path for the switches, and other information PA will need to add.

DE to AE to PA DE Uploads approved drawings to customer folder and adds path for PA & link to Sharepoint approval AE Creates software and forwards to PA PA PA places equipment orders. PA then adds the switch matrix information in Illustrator on each individual switch on the layer created. This information includes: switch part number, glass & framing plate colors, font used and what size, quantity, LED color and WBI indication.

Emulsion is rinsed off the screens and they are placed in one of two dryers for up to 20 minutes F. Screens are removed from the dryer, blackout is added and each screen is placed back into the dryers for another 15 minutes

An average of 5 individual screen passes is required for each individual switch H. Printed plates are taken off the press run through a UV dryer on a conveyer belt, removed and set out to cure for 24 hours

Additional suggestions A proposed visual order management screen would provide better order status tracking. It could be created in an Excel spreadsheet and posted in a location where Amy, Chris Swope, Kevin, and whoever else it may apply to, can access it. Status changes could then be reviewed daily and re-ordering according to priority would be easy and immediately uploaded to the monitor for Kevin and crew to reference. A new MODEVA and EVORA Design Suggestion Ordering Guide should be created and sent to all US sales reps and ASI’s to present to any customer interested in these products. It will contain beautifully rendered and photographed switches and thermostats, standard colors and suggestions on how to submit custom color requests properly. It will also suggest best font choices and the maximum amount of letters on each switch. Additionally, it will provide suggestions on how best to abbreviate long words such as “Temperature Down” to shortened versions like “ Temp Dn” or the usage of Icons or arrows. Sharing our best and most successful recommendations should help to steer designers/hotel owners away from difficult to print and read switches. By providing this literature prior to the project reaching the drawing phase, DE will be able to work with the actual templates that will be sent to MBO for review and printing of separations, eliminating the risky step of re-creating the switches, and providing the customer with a true visual of the printed switch they will be receiving. It was suggested that with the arrival of the additional Silkscreen Press, Dryer, Film Printer and Screen processor, it may make sense to move the location of that room to a larger area within the plant and add another washout station. During times when the orders are very large, a second crew may be added.
