Human-level artificial intelligence? Be serious! Nils J. Nilsson

AI Goes to Work Turing test does not constitute an appropriate or useful criterion for human- level AI Employment test –the tasks or “jobs” at which people are employed.

The Challenge “Education Direct” –(web site) Exam

Habile System general purpose –able to learn any of a wide variety of different skills. to become specialists “we should rely only on that system’s experience, its learning abilities, and human tutoring to progress to the next level” “I don’t expect building habile systems to be easy or that they will be achievable in the next several years”

The “Child Machine” like onion from the core to outer layer “We learn how to learn, and we acquire skills that are employed in the service of acquiring more skills, and so on”

Core suggestions Sensory-Motor System Hierarchies of Perception, Representation, and Action Predicting and Planning Learning Reasoning and Representation Language
