Lesson 1: No Ordinary Guy John 1:1-14

Lesson Objective: To see Jesus for who He really is and begin to grasp how incredible it is that we get to have a relationship with Him.

Look at John 1:1-2. These two verses are short, but they pack a huge punch! They say so much about Jesus’ identity. What do they say about who Jesus is? Look at John 1:3-5. What did we just learn about Jesus’ role in creation?

Read John 1: These are remarkable verses. What are the incredible truths that speak to you? What does it mean that we are children of God?

Read John 1:14. When you think of Jesus, do these words and images we just wrote down come to mind? Do your prayers reflect an understanding of Jesus that is based on these characteristics of Him? If not, why do you think we can be so guilty of not really thinking of Jesus in this way?

Knowing that Jesus is eternal, that all things were made through Him, that He is one with the Father, and that we can literally see the glory of God in Him, how does it make you feel that you have a personal relationship with Him?
