SAF education pathways

Why we need to change Standards in Sharnbrook Academy Federation schools are high but we believe we cannot sustain these in the current structure The number of middle schools nationally is declining rapidly presenting both training and recruitment challenges There is a patchwork arrangement of secondary and upper schools in Bedford Borough The structure of GCSEs is changing and a transition point in year 9 is detrimental Bedford Borough have also recognised the above issues, hence their support to a move to a two tier system

What we will achieve One transfer point at age 11 into Sharnbrook Academy Delivery of education for years 7 to 11 (age 11 to 16) within one school and with no transition An age appropriate curriculum offer on all 4 sites Staff will know their students for longer Build on the current Key Stage 2 and 4 standards The four schools will work closely together at each stage to ensure a smooth transition at Year 7 and Year 12 These aspects combined should deliver better outcomes for all students

Riseley – key points Our intentions are to: Provide a high-performing, full primary school in the heart of the community Offer to all age groups outstanding teaching and care in the Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Ensure students achieve well by drawing on best practice from our 28 partner schools in the Pilgrim Learning Trust Develop classrooms and high quality facilities for the youngest children in a safe and secure learning environment Close liaison between SAF primary and secondary provisions to ensure smooth transition of students between Year 6 and Year 7
