PD Day for Teachers Along with our confidentiality training we added bullying training (sending a copy of powerpoint to all staff for their review later as needed). Included: District Employee Handbook policy /Definition of bullying / Forms of & Signs of Bullying / Strategies for Kids & Adults / Management & Follow Ups Reviewed bullying form for reporting to office. Provided powerpoint for teachers to use in classroom along with expectation lessons (KCID) FOR THOSE MINOR SITUATIONS…. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU KEEP A PAGE IN YOUR GRADE BOOK – OR A JOURNAL WHERE EACH CHILD HAS A LINE/PAGE. WHEN SOMETHING IS REPORTED TO YOU, YOU CAN QUICKLY MAKE NOTE OF THE REPORT. THAT WAY IF YOU NOTICE YOU ARE ON YOUR THIRD REPORT FOR ONE CHILD YOU CAN MOVE FORWARD WITH OFFICE REFERRAL. OR…… YOU MAY CHOOSE TO USE INCIDENT REPORTS AND KEEP THEM IN YOUR CLASSROOM IN A FILE UNDER STUDENT NAME. JUST LET ME KNOW YOU WANT A STACK. Harassment/Bullying: Repeated intent to intimidate, harass, annoy or alarm another person…damages or commits a theft…substantially disrupts operation of the school…creates a hostile environment by means of any gestures, written communications, oral statements, or physical acts…knowing it would cause another student to suffer fear of physical harm, intimidation, humiliation, or embarrassment.

Lessons for all Grade Levels Learning the difference between Tattling and Reporting (Using Poster for Reporting) Learning what bullying is. Learning / Practicing how to stand up for self / avoid & handle bullies & Peer Pressure Later in the year we move into other lessons that also support: feelings / making decisions /handling anger / etc. Bullying is when someone hurts another on purpose over and over.

Positive Outlook Introduction Lesson this year included, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today” Each student was given ‘Bucket Filler’ Cards to pass them forward. Extra cards for faculty to use. Bulletin Board with reminders of ways to be a Bucket Filler every day.

Red Ribbon Week Teachers and Students both sign pledges for Red Ribbon Week. In order to create a safe environment and a welcome place of learning for me, my friends and community, I pledge to lead a drug-free life, and encourage our classmates to do the same. I promise to treat my classmates and others in a friendly manner ¨ to never say or write mean or untrue things about anyone ¨ to speak with my parents or another trusted adult if I see anyone being bullied ¨ to help any student who is being bullied In order to create a safe environment and a welcome place of learning I pledge to help bullied students. I will listen carefully to all students who seek my help and act on their behalf to put an immediate stop to the bullying. I will work with other caring adults to create a safe learning environment for all the students in my school. Bullying tip sheets for agendas BULLYING is when you hurt someone on purpose over and over.
