Romanesque art History of Romanesque Art Gallery Introduction

Romanesque History The art deals with the Crucifixion and the Defeat of Hades. Gothic art came from Romanesque art and lasted from the mid-12th century to as late as the end of the 16th century in some countries Architecture was the most important, and original, art form during the Romanesque artistic time period. Large wall-paintings were also created, but little survives. Byzantine influence was strong, but was fused with early Christian and Germanic decorative traditions.

Romanesque Art continued… Tapestry work and painting were closely related in this period. Figures in Romanesque Paintings are generally sized according to importance, not in accordance with perspective. Similarities in style and technique may relate to an internationalization of styles brought from place to place by traveling artists. example
