Mission of the GSM To develop a medical school for the 21 st century that focuses on the training of students who have a desire to, and have demonstrated the competencies to, engage in general practice medicine and other specialty medicine in regional, rural and remote areas

Principles Underlying the GSM An overriding commitment to regional, rural and remote Australia A community-based medical school with extensive participatory involvement by community GPs and specialists A medical school for the 21 st century—a curriculum that reflects advances in medical education approaches, and extensive use of existing and emerging medical education and information technologies
