WD Caviar® Green™ SATA Hard Drives Hard Drive This is an example of hard drive inside Western digital My Book hard drives family Basically it can be used internally or externally

Up to 285,000 digital photos Up to 250,000 songs (MP3) if 1 CD take 20 tracks that will be approx CDs that’s about 250 packs of 50 CDs per pack Up to 76 hours of Digital Video (DV) a DVD can only hold approx 3hrs max Up to 440 hours of DVD quality video Up to 120 hours of HD video Up to 25,000 songs (uncompressed CD quality ) What WD Caviar® Green power 1 TB hard drive holds Green drives from WD yield average drive power savings of 4-5 watts over standard desktop drives while maintaining solid performance. £89 to £100 WD Caviar® Green power 1 TB hard drive cost approximately £89 to £100 online depending where you are shopping

Ok let’s break the above chat down: £15 £10.Usually as human beings we buy DVDs, CDs to store data such as music track, photos, may be copying movies. For instance a pack of 50 DVDS will cost approximately £15 pounds while a pack of same amount of CDs will cost approximately £10. Right, depending on what an individual is storing I will give an example of DVDs, Whereby DVDs capacity is about 4.7GB meaning you can’t store much data depending on what you are storing and worst you can’t edit the data. Therefore once DVDS and CDS run out you will have to buy more and some time they get scratched and you loose data meaning spending more money. £100The problem with this kind of storage you have to store your data according to its format, for example if its DVD formatted data you will have to store data in DVD this is because CDs won’t take DVDs data so you will have to buy specific data storage e.g. DVDs and CDs types. These types of storage can cost up to £100 on average user, which I think is money wasting plus not good to the environment because they are made of plastic which means they are bound to be recycled and worse no maximum benefit. So the point am trying to drive home is if you are, a big MP3 user for example you will have to buy a lot of compatible MP3 CDs, while it would be more practical to buy WD Caviar® Green power 1 TB hard drive to save money and on top of all save any kind of data on the same hard drive thus getting maximum usage and benefit.

GreenPower™ Technology Environmentally responsible storage Here’s another scenario of saving money based on power consumption depending on several factors: e.g. system type desktop or a server; how many hours per year the drive run; other factors such as air conditioning costs and power supply efficiency; and the cost of a kilowatt hour.

SegmentHours/Year Power Multiplier $/KWattTCO$/yearKg of CO 2 Days of Driving (Based on Avg. Daily CO 2 Emissions ) Enterprise (1) $0.12 (4) $ (5) 14 (6) CE (2) 1.54 (3) $0.12 (4) $5.26 $ (5) 38.9 (5) 7 (6) 9 (6) Desktop (2) 1.54 (3) $0.12 (4) $1.87 $ (5) 13.8 (5) 3 (6) USB/FireWire Drives (2) 3.33 (3) $0.12 (4) $1.87 $ (5) 29.9 (5) 3 (6) 7 (6) Ethernet Drives (2) 3.33 (7) $0.12 (4) $5.26 $ (5) 84.5 (5) 7 (6) 19 (6) Here's a chart that takes into account these factors and estimates the savings: The amount that can be saved in money is shown on S/KWatt and TCO$/year columns

It's about the environment up to $10 per $100,000 in saving per yearBy WD estimates our GreenPower technology can save large data-hungry organizations like financial institutions and search engine services, up to $10 per drive per year in electricity costs (U.S.). Ten dollars per year doesn't sound like much until you consider, for example, a large data center with say 10,000 drives. Do the math, that's up to $100,000 in saving per year. That power savings equates to reducing CO2 emission by up to 60 kilograms per drive per year - the equivalent of taking your car off the road for 14 days each year. This new platform makes it possible for our energy-conscious customers to build systems with higher capacities and the right balance of system performance, ensured reliability and energy conservation....the equivalent of taking your car off the road for 14 days each year (Western Digital claims)
