Raising the Participation Age (RPA) New legislation ‘Raising the Participation Age’ (RPA) requires everyone to participate in some sort of education or training until their 18 th Birthday. This could be: Full time education An apprenticeship Work, Volunteering, Self Employment plus Part Time Course

Pathways open to you: Full Time Education A: Continue onto a Level 3 B: Leave at the end of this year and join another full time course either here or another school (sixth form) or college, as long as you enrol before you are 19, your course will be fully funded.

Option 2: Apprenticeships are offered at Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 and Degree Level (in some subjects) Study towards a related qualification (One day a week college /on job assessed) Study towards a related qualification (One day a week college /on job assessed) Apprenticeships take 1 to 4 years to complete depending on their level. Minimum Wage for an Apprentice is £3.30

Option 3: Work, Volunteering, Self Employment PLUS Part-time Education If you know an employer who would like to take you on in a paid role, you can say YES, as long as you do a part-time course alongside You may already be doing voluntary work or commercial experience (unpaid) You can continue to do this as long as you enrol on a part time course You can run your own business as long as you undertake part time study alongside Part Time study can be ‘distance learning’ – a course you pay for by module and study at home (no funding from the government for this) or part time day/evening classes at a college or training provider.
