 Unhealthy eating practices learned from programming/ads for unhealthy food, increased snacking behavior while viewing, and interference with normal sleep patterns are causing children to gain excess weight.

 The food related TV ads are primarily for high calorie, low nutrient foods and drinks, and this sort of food marketing influences the child's food preferences and purchases requests.

 Branded foods drinks and restaurants are often featured in TV show and movies, and this is also influencing a child's food consumption.

 A television set in a child’s bedroom is also a large problem because it allows for loss of sleep at night, as well as allowing for fewer restrictions on what the child can view.
