Adv. Physics I Week Through

Bellwork Monday Question: How is it possible to hold a water bottle with a sideways grip? Take out our Friction Lab packet (given last week) and the answers to the preliminary questions for the lab Take out our Friction Lab packet (given last week) and the answers to the preliminary questions for the lab

Objectives 1. TSWBAT 1. TSWBAT demonstrate how to find the coefficient of friction for two surfaces in real life

Rabbits like Carrots…

Class Plans Today Friction Lab Report: Due Wednesday ONLY Results and Analysis questions! One report for every pair (2 people max per report)

This Week’s HW’s Problems In HOLT Physics: Ch. 5 pg.185 # 1, 4 pg.185 # 1, 4 pg.186 # 2, 3 pg.186 # 2, 3 pg.189 Section review #1 pg.189 Section review #1 Practice 5 F # 5 Practice 5 F # 5 Ch. Rev. Extra credit this week: 5-1 Section Review handout Pg. 198 (Chapter 5 Program for your calculator) Pg. 199 # 3 OR # 6 HW is due Next Wed.! E.C. is due by next Wed.!

Rollercoaster Project This project is designed to teach you about applications of KE, PEg, and the Conservation of ME. You will build a “working” rollercoaster with at least 3 “features” to it. “Working” means that a marble/car will successfully travel along the entire course of the coaster under it’s own energy when released from a starting position A “feature” may be: a hill or initial drop, a loop (sideways or vertical), a corkscrew (sideways or vertical), or a jump. If you want to include a different item in your track as one of your 3 “features”, you must get it approved through me first. After building the coaster you will calculate your “car’s” (may be a marble or ball bearing) ME (KE + PEg) at the highest point(s) of each of your 3 features and the end point. Calculate your “car’s” speed at the bottom of the biggest drop Assume no friction is present and therefore ME is conserved

Tuesday Bellwork Prepare 1. Prepare your desk and mind for the Chapter 4 Quest! 2. You 2. You may have: 1.Blank 1.Blank scratch paper 2.Calculator 3.Pencil 3.Pencil (#2) for scantron

Objectives 1. TSW 1. TSW display personal mastery of Newton’s Laws and their implications on everyday forces

Tuesday Class Plans  Take chapter 4 Quest  HW: Finish Friction Lab if not already done: Only Results and Analysis questions (1 per two people)

Bellwork Hand Hand in Lab Reports to the class bin (make sure both names are on it) Holt Holt pg.167…

Wednesday Class Plans Notes on Work and Kinetic Energy Examples: Examples: lifting a weight, moving sideways, lowering a weight, studying, throwing a football, catching the football, pushing boxes up a long or short ramp, pendulum swinging, car skid marks, satellites and force of gravity, the work of walking down stairs vs. level ground Copy chart on positive and negative work An important sentence from Holt, pg.171 Power Problems: Do HOLT p.189 # 2 Holt p.195 # 36 Practice: Work and Power handout 5-4 Section Review Handout HW: HW: Continue on this week’s problems Bring/wear clothes for running stairs tomorrow!
