OVERALL VIEW HONOURS 92 MCs OF MAJOR MODULES + 16 MCS OF LANGUAGE* BACHELORS 52 MCs OF MAJOR MODULES + 16 MCS OF LANGUAGE* * Language requirement is to be fulfilled using non-major modular credits (MC) that are traditionally called ‘unrestricted electives – UE’. Students normally have have 28 MCs of Unrestricted Electives (UE). Because of language, GL students thus have 12 MCs.

University Level Requirements General Education (20 MCs) Faculty Core (12 MCs) Major Honours (92 MCs) Level 1-3 – 4MCs each and L4-L5 – 5 MCs each (with the exception of LKY SPP modules which are at 4 MCs) Unrestricted Electives (UE) (28 MCs) Human Culture (GEH) Exposure : Social Sciences Core: GL1101E Language Quantitative Reasoning (GER) Exposure : Humanities Core: GL2101Language Thinking and Expression (GET) Exposure : Asian Studies Core: GL2102Language Singapore Studies (GES) FAS1101Core: GL2103Language One more GEH/GET/GES FAS1102Core: GL3101 UE 16 MCs in Theme UE 16 MCs in Region UE Core: GL4101 Core: GL Level-4000 Modules 60 MCs must be at L3 and above. Of which at least 40 MCs must be at L4 (includes Core Modules). An Example of What Goes into an Honours Degree. *Students on different schemes (MTBS/USP/Double Degree/Second Major) will have to check the modular paper for the requirements.

An Example A student pursuing the following combination who plans to do honours: Global Health & Environment (GHE) Southeast Asia (SEA) German (16 MCs of Language fulfilled using modular credits from the Unrestricted Electives) An Example A student pursuing the following combination who plans to do honours: Global Health & Environment (GHE) Southeast Asia (SEA) German (16 MCs of Language fulfilled using modular credits from the Unrestricted Electives) GL1101E (20 MCs) GL2101 GL2102 GL2103 GL3101 THEME: GHE (16 MCs) L2000 (Sociology) L3000 (Sociology) L3000 (Political Science) L3000 (Geography) REGION: SEA (16 MCs) L2000 (Geography) L3000 (Political Science) L2000 (Southeast Asian Studies) L3000 (Southeast Asian Studies) HONOURS (40 MCs) GL4101 GL4102 L4 Not more than 50% of your modules can be from a single subject. Good spread of L2 and L3. Minimum of 20MCs at L3000. Minimum of 40MCs must be at L4000

Tips Classify modules every semester in the Graduation Academic Planning System so that you are able to track your progress. Graduation Academic Planning System Graduation Academic Planning System Plan, plan, plan – GL involves a lot of planning. Participate in the Module Preference Exercise to have your major modules pre- allocated to you where possible especially the language module. Module Preference ExerciseModule Preference Exercise Students on LPP need not select language during MPE. Students intending to go on exchange should be aware of the MC Exchange Ratio of the Partner University. MC Exchange RatioMC Exchange Ratio Students can exercise the S/U option on their language. Do note that those pursuing a minor which requires language would have to be careful about exercising the S/U option. Know which subjects (PS, HY, GE, NM or etc.) are more prominent in your Theme or Region and use the Faculty Exposure Requirement to fulfill the exposure modules. In this way you don’t have to worry about fulfilling the exposure requirement for higher level modules. GL Majors are encouraged to read in-depth into their approved Theme during Honours.
