Building a “Prius”: Focused Innovation on MAM First 6 weeks: – Design process began with the end to end workflow. – Screens and user stories derived from this workflow. – Initial wireframes and user group feedback were the base Last 4 weeks: Further leverage Giant Source for rapid iterative and innovative design – Ironed out future thinking inventory management – Ironed the inbound file process by thoroughly describing file states, status change events and how the system handles them through backend processes and UI presentation – Maximized the value of the inbound file queue (formally Aspera upload queue). Traffic can see everything they need about incoming files and take action to move them up to "ready for match" status at which point matching system takes over. – Streamlined the Matching experience – Ingest orders can be generated through materials analysis as fulfillment orders are created in the system to satisfy the requirements of scheduled versions in vision. These orders (both fulfillment and ingest) can exist and live even if the originating Vision order is canceled, so long as Vision continues to have need through a rescheduled event. – Streamlined three separate use cases for ingesting and rapidly registering inbound files. Bulk Ingest - We receive files in bulk from a third party without having requested them. These files can be rapidly ingested and registered through the matching tool. Pro-active manual Ingest order to "prime" the system in anticipation of Vision title scheduling once trafficking get access to the upcoming title list. Reactive system created ingest orders generated through materials analysis to fulfill the needs of Vision and deliver files to playout facilities. Refined project phases into a further iterative path (next page) – Approved P0 screens which are in development environment
Aspera Active Use: – Budapest w/c 6th Jan to VOD partner then migration of other channels – London w/c 6th Jan Delivery to playout Benefits Upon Use – on successful transfer; Automatic Retry; Remote Access via VPN Staff don’t have to wait at office for transfers to finish – Enterprise grade; Server based; Staff don’t have to repeat work due to software crashes, system picks up where it left off – File tracking and receipts –permanent log of all file movements; Can hold vendors to account LONDON SERVER ARQIVA BUDAPEST SERVER ENCOMPASS LEVIRA ASPERA PROXY ASPERA CONSOLE External Partners USERS SONY VPN ACCESS
Local Build Scope: Large complex project split with MediaCentre Active Use: System live and ready to use as each team completes training using Premier over the week of 9th-17th January. (Professional trainers on site) Benefits Upon Use: – Infrastructure is Faster, Faster, Faster: Get material To and From editors more quickly No longer need to convert files using custom software, saving time and complexity Editors will be able to see and access files themselves as soon as they arrive. No waiting for other departments to move them – Software is Better, Better, Better: New Premiere software has many features to speed up editors work such as background rendering and After Effects integration More software features so teams have tools to be more creative – Fewer lost working hours (newer equipment and negotiated better support contracts) – Addressing Loudness Concerns: Specialist Audio Monitoring Units for QC teams 6 QC/Comp Edits 16 Promo Edits 2 Tape Ingest MC Storage Controller Aspera QC/ Complianc e On Air Storage System Playout etc. Audio Monitors File Movements New OnAir New MC ToolsOA Software Adobe Software
