Writing Children will include several sentences in their writing Children will plan for writing and express simple ideas Mathematics Children will be able to  read numbers up to 20  Count forwards and backwards up to and from 20  Say the number after and before a given number in the range of 1-20  Order numbers to 20  Know groupings to 5 Reading  All children will read green text ( Level 12-14) after one year at school.  All children will monitor their reading using meaning, structure and visual information. Targets: After One Year at School

Taonga The Big Idea Taonga( Treasures) are different things to different people for many different reasons. Taonga can be: Ourselves, personal treasure, a family treasure, a cultural Taonga, a place, a person, an animal, an endangered specie, a story, a sportsperson, an icon, our country or a National treasure. ( with a cap) -Instructors not in pool -Walking distance -9 sessions Tawa Pool -$60 approx -Instructors in pool with smaller groups -Would need a bus -12 sessions

Junior Kapa Haka: Woud you like the Junior Kapa Haka to be optional or compulsory? Outdoor education Our inquiry topics for the year are Taonga, Celebrations, Great Outdoors We currently have no planned trips for the Year One students but we see experiences outside the class as important. We would like to plan trips that support our inquiry unit. In order for us to plan trips we would like to know -Would you like the trips to be within walking distance in the local area? or -are you prepared to meet the cost of buses to have experiences outside of the Whitby area.
