Our Class Schedule

Specials Schedule

Expectations with Love & Logic Our class uses STAR to help us learn the best way to behave at school. We also follow the Love & Logic philosophy at Star Elementary. We practice taking responsibility & having natural consequences.

Homework Folder Please read and sign the sentence on the back of the folder every night and return it every day. Keep at Home Side – Please check this side of the folder on a daily basis. You can find past classroom assignments, PTA notes, and other important information. Occasionally there may be a time sensitive note or flyer on this side. Return to School Side – Here you can find anything that needs to be signed and returned to class, as well as homework assignments.

Homework Homework will be given in a packet form. Although the homework for the week is given on Monday, it should be completed each night according to the day of the week labeled on the sheets. We will spend some class time going over this work each morning. Spelling list will be sent home Monday and tested on Friday. Please review words as you see fit. 20 minutes of reading nightly is expected. You can read to your child, have your child read to you, or a combination but make it as enjoyable as possible. Please keep me aware of struggles and successes with homework.

Grading The district follows a Standards Based grading system in all subject areas. The students are graded based on if they are at grade level, advance, basic, or not meeting the standard. – 4 = above grade level – 3 = at grade level – 2 = basic – 1 = not meeting the standard When I grade daily assignments, I will correct these, but there will be NO number value assigned. They will be in the Keep at Home section of the folder. When I grade evidence pieces, I will write “E” and put an RT# on the paper (Reporting Topic & number) and a 4, 3, 2, or 1. Evidence pieces go toward the report card. Evidence pieces should be signed and returned to school. Grades will be active in PowerSchool when they are entered, so you will have access to your child’s scores as soon as they are posted to the grade book. Your packet contains the login information for Powerschool.

Water Bottles Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to class as we do not have a drinking fountain. They are kept on a rack to avoid distraction/accidents at desks. Water bottles should come home nightly and be refilled for school the next day. Please make sure your child’s name is on their water bottle
