AP Calculus AB AP Calculus AB is equivalent to a Calculus 1 class in college. Students pass the AP exam by earning a 3, 4 or, 5. Check with colleges to determine which score they will accept for credit. Students receive score over the summer. Check college board website. g/ap/sub_calab.html

AP Calculus Exam The exam is on Wednesday, May 6. AP Mock Exams will be on Saturdays in March or April. Dates will be announced in the winter months. There will be three or four tests offered. They are usually from 8 a.m. to 12 or 1 p.m. We will take a Mock exam in class. The mock exam will count as a test grade in the fourth quarter. The highest grade out of the mock exams will be a student’s test grade. If students come to two AP practice exam sessions, students will earn a 100% on a test for the 4 th quarter.

Supplies & Textbook Students should have a Graphing calculator! TI-84+ or CASIO 9850Gb+ Textbook: Calculus: Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic – Each student received a textbook the second day of class.

Grading Scale 60% tests 20% quizzes 20% daily checks and homework I check homework randomly throughout each unit. I do not check every homework assignment. I always collect the review for the test.

Gradebook NHI means not handed in. 1-3 days late….. 75% maximum credit 4-6 days late ….. 60% maximum credit 7 days …………. 50% maximum credit After 7 days, students will receive a zero. ABS means student was absent for assignment. Student should give me the assignment when they return.

Tests Tests will be broken into 2 or 3 sections. Each section will count as a separate test grade. Possible sections: – Traditional test: Questions from homework assignments, notes, or classwork – Multiple choice: Previous AP Calculus multiple choice questions – Free Response questions: Previous AP Calculus multiple choice questions (this will be curved like the AP exam is curved)

Releasing Tests Please make sure your student gave you the consent form on releasing tests and you both read over it and signed it. Students will be allowed to keep their tests if they signed the release form until the day after the retake. Quizzes will be returned to me the day after the test for that unit. We will have previous AP test questions on assessments, which college board says students may not keep.

Retakes 12 retakes throughout the year. A retake counts as a section of a test or a quiz. No retakes in the fourth quarter or on the AP practice exams. Must complete item analysis packet unless otherwise told. It is posted on School Fusion. All assignments must be complete before retake.

Retakes Continued The dates for the retake assessment will be stated on the day the test or quiz is handed out. If a student cannot come to one of those dates, they must make arrangements with me right away for another date to retake the test. Error analysis is due two days before a student is going to retake a test. The better grade counts as the test/quiz grade.

Extra Help I am available Mondays from 2 to 3:30 and Thursdays from 2 to 3. I am also available every morning before school from 6:45 to 7:15. Students should let me know they are planning to come in the morning.

Have a Great Day!
