Write the list as follows: “You will need the following supplies on your desk for this lesson:” – Example of supplies: Textbook Pencil Calculator Colored Pencils, etc. Remember, you are using this PPT to teach the students in Whole Class time. You will be speaking and using this “live”.

Overview Include a picture or a word that will capture the attention of the students. Use interesting animations where appropriate. For example, if I am teaching about the foods of Peru, then I might have something like this…(see next slide…)

Overview Example Question: Would you like to have a taste of this??? (click your answer from your Smartphone now)

Tomorrow’s Expectations 1.Inform the students of upcoming lesson for tomorrow. 2.Include topic and picture to trigger curiosity.

Example… “How do you think today’s lesson will apply to tomorrow’s topic?” “Upload your comments to our class Twitter.”

Transition to Independent Learning Simply post a slide that opens up for student questions before you transition to independent learning time (differentiated individual activity).

Transition Slide Example

Tips for EDU 250 Students Use Font Use a reasonable background that does not detract from the learning/distract the learner Complement the lesson with interesting visuals (pictures/graphs/etc.) Do not use more than 2 colors for writing per slide Do not use dark background with light writing font color Do not use “glow in the dark” style coloring Don’t be “wordy” on the text of “in class” slides for your lessons – Less is always best. Remember, you and the activity are the focus of the learning – not the slide. Use the same transition throughout the slide presentation. Use creative, age appropriate, interesting animations as needed.
