Upper Classes Clothes Lower classes clothes

The Italian gentlemen wore a close- fitting doublet buttoned in front down to the waist and short padded trousers.

They wore a beret and a blue mantel

The garment was entirely in blu velvet and with ruff cuffs.

The ruff neckline was low and square

Men of the lower classes wore a doublet and short trousers with close-fitting hoses.

A simple beret completed the outfit.

Women wore very simple clothes. They wore a bag in a semi-round shape and a wide skirt that reached the floor.

with a veil draped over the back. A small white hat

THERE WAS A GREAT DIFFERENCE IN STYLE BETWEEN THE CLASSES. THE LOWER CLASSES WORE WOOL OR LINEN FABRICS BECAUSE THEY NEEDED A CERTAIN FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT. THEREFORE THEIR OUTFITS WERE SIMPLE AND COMFORTABLE, WITH VERY FEW DECORATIONS. THE UPPER CLASSES WORE HEAVY AND CUMBERSOME CLOTHES, HIGHLY DECORATED. FOR THIS REASON THEY WERE HELPED BY SERVANS TO GET DRESSED. MOREOVER FABRICS USED INCLUDED SILCK, VELVET AND BROCADE.
