The Group Klaus Meine (vocal) Rudolf Schenker (eletric guittar) Matthias Jabs (eletric guittar) Paweł Mąciwoda (baixo) James Kottak (bateria)

History of the band The band emerged in Hannover in West Germany in 1965 and has undergone several changes in its members, and now only Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker had participated in the original band.

The song was written by Klaus Meine and was inspired by the "winds of change" that struck Europe, the Cold War ending, the end of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall. The song is the 10th biggest selling single of all times in Germany.

The lyrics celebrate the political changes in Eastern Europe in 1990s – such as the political discussions that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and Utano countries that were part of the socialist block, and the impending slowdown and eventual collapse of the Cold War. Klaus was inspired to write the song on a visit to Moscow in 1989.
