What is Student Government? Student government is a great opportunity for you to make a difference in your school and community. Student government allows you to be a voice for your fellow students to the faculty and administration. Student government helps to plan school-sponsored activities (like Spirit Week) as well as community activities. Student government is also a great experience to include in your college applications and resumes!

Positions: EXECUTIVE COUNCIL—elected officials STUDENT BODY President Vice President Secretary Treasurer CLASS (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) President Vice President Secretary Treasurer SENATOR no election needed, requirements listed later

Class Officer Responsibilities Schedule class meetings (monthly) Create agenda for all class meetings Run class meetings Communicate with class officers Report to class advisor Camp and conference recommendations

Student Body Treasurer RESPONSIBILITIES Manage all SG funds (master budget with account balances) Request money for non- class events Manage class money requests and forward to advisor for approval REQUIREMENTS Rising sophomore or junior (current freshman or sophomore)

Senator RESPONSIBILITIES Attend all class (1 per month) and student body meetings 2 absences allowed More than 2 absence may result in removal Serve on committees as appointed REQUIREMENTS This is a NON-elected position Freshmen: Must have at least a 77 in 3 out of 4 classes Submit Completed Application No behavioral issues resulting in ISS or OSS

Timeline: Application-to-Run (online) & Recommendations: Wednesday, October 14 th by 3:45 p.m. to Ms. Cook (rm 712) or Ms. Winchester (rm 805).  Recommendations will be turned in by teachers and administrators. Campaigning: Monday, October 19 th through Thursday, October 22 nd. Elections: Friday, October 23 rd. Runoff: If needed, runoffs will occur Wednesday, October 28 th.
