Should animals be kept in a Zoo? L.O. To recreate a persuasive text as closely as possible.

Persuasion Work with a partner – you have 3 mins!! Think of 3 good reasons. Where would you rather live? The wild The Zoo

Should animals be kept in a Zoo? Dictogloss activity Aim- To hug the text as closely as possible!!

Activity – Dictagloss We are going to listen to a short persuasive text three times. The first time you hear it, you should listen really carefully. The second time you hear it write down any sentence starters you hear. The third time you hear it, focus on key words and phrases included in the passage. Then we will partner up and compare your notes – add any openers or phrases you have missed. Next you will recreate the text as closely as you can in your books.

We will then see how much of the text you can remember if you work as a class using the sentence starters. Should animals be kept in Zoos ? There is no denying that zoos have served as both recreational and educational venues for people to see animals firsthand. However, I believe that all zoos should be closed down if we really want to protect animals and treat them fairly.     Animals in zoos do not live a natural existence. Zoos might keep animals safe but they are destroying them at the same time. The animals are being exploited for MONEY, it might be entertaining to visit a Zoo but the animals in them lose their freedom, ability to hunt and many are not even able to run within their enclosures. Even in a “natural habitat enclosure”, animals are still confined and their behaviour and habits change as a consequence of their confinement. Therefore in truth people who visit Zoos are not seeing natural animal behaviour, but merely miserable imprisoned creatures.
