WORLD WAR II WORLD WAR II By: Karen and Josie

WHEN DID THE WORLD WAR 2 START/ HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED IN CAMPS It had started September 1 st and ended on September 2 nd SIX MILLION MEN AND WOMEN DIED 1.2 MILLION CHILDREN DIED.

HOW DID THE WAR/HOLOCAUST START? By the early 1900s there had already been lots of hate to the Jews for senators cause of religious reasons. Germans spread roomers that Jews wouldn’t help them out during the war.

WHY DID THE GERMANS PUT JEWS IN THE CAMPS? The Germans thought that Jews were a threat to them and wanted to get rid of them by killing them or torching them till they died. They would also try to starve them and make them work everyday, and if the Jews were sick the Germans would hang, shoot them.

WHERE WERE THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN SENT? During deportation operation, women that were pregnant or women with small children were sent to killing centers, they include them in groups and then sent to gas chambers. Evacuation for children was bombing the closure of many urban schools was the most bombing for many children. The first process began In September 1, 1939 and involved teachers. Evacuation was voluntary but you didn’t need to but some stayed homeless. Some stayed to help and some stayed to help some families. For some children when they announced the war was at its end it brought the period of fear at its end.

WHAT DID THE MEN DO IN THE CAMPS? Some Jew men had it easy or hard some had to work in the rain, snow, and others. But they would build more buildings, farming, work in factory's, coal mines, and burn died body's.

WHAT HAPPEN TO THE WOMEN DURING WAR? In May 1939, the SS opened Ravensbruck the largest concentration camp for women. Over 100,000 women were sent there. Nazi ideology also targeted Roma women, Polish women, and women with disabilities. Over 350,000 were sent to serve in the armed force. Even if they are at home or abroad. The government discouraged women that wanted their children to join the military service. They did technical jobs that men were supposed to do freeing them from combat.

MEALS THEY GAVE AT THE CONCENTRATION CAMPS Everyone got so excited when it got to the meal time even though the food wasn’t that good. When they gave the morning roll call it as morning meal. For morning meal they served imitation coffee or herbal tea. For lunch they would serve a liter of watery soup. If some people were lucky they would get a tumip or potato peel. In the evening they served a piece of black bread that weigh 300 grams.

WHEN DID JAPAN ATTACK PEARL HARBOR? Japan attacked pearl harbor in December 7th It was around 8:00 am when japan launched roughly 200 planes from 6 aircraft carriers. When that happened it shocked a lot of people. They were really scared after that. Pearl Harbor suffered severe damage or destruction of 18 ships including the battle ship Arizona, Oklahoma, California, Nevada, and West Virginia. And more than 2400 United States service personnel got killed.
