4 Forms of Government What radio station do you want to listen to?

MONARCHY A government in which one person, a king, a queen, or an emperor, has the power to make all political decisions.

MONARCHY King – has the power to select the power radio station and the power to punish those who object. Prince – son of King.

THE KING IS DEAD! The PRINCE TAKES OVER!

King & Prince…how did you feel during the activity? Subjects…how did you feel during the activity? Who makes the decisions in a monarchy? Is this rule by one few or many?

Oligarchy A government in which few individuals, aristocrats or selected wealthy members, have the power to make all the political decisions.

Aristocrats – have the power to select the power radio station and the power to punish those who object. Middle Class – dream of being an aristocrat. Oligarchy

One aristocrat is being difficult…get out of here! A member of the middle class is chosen!

Tyranny (Dictatorship) A government in which one individual seizes power by force and rules single- handedly.

Tyrant – has the power to select the radio station and the power to punish those who object. Tyranny (Dictatorship)

RIGHT NOW, tell the tyrant…. We don’t like you. Change the station. You are not fair. Go away. Leave the country! You are evil!
