Classroom Rules 1. Keep, hands, feet, and objects to yourself 2. No teasing, bullying, or unkind remarks 3. Follow instructions the first time given 4. Be on time and prepared 5. The use of personal electronic devices is prohibited

Consequences 1. Warning 2. 5 minute time out minute time out/Call home 4. Buddy Room 5. Referral to the Office *Severe Referrals: Student will be automatically removed from the classroom. *You child will be rewarded for good behavior!

Daily Expectations Your child will bring these items to class everyday: 1. Binder with 2 sets of 5 dividers (Every paper has a home.) 2. Student Agenda (Required for communication between home & school.) 3. Homework when applicable 4. Paper 5. Pencil or Pen (black or blue ink only) *Work will not be accepted if done in any other medium or color.

Student Agenda The purpose of the agenda is to organize your child’s assignments by subject and provide grade updates for you. On Mondays, your child will write his/her grade check in the agenda and circle it. The agenda must be signed by a parent or guardian before Friday. If you have concerns or comments you can write me a message next to the signature as well. I will check the agendas on Friday and issue 5 points for the parent signature acknowledging you have reviewed the weekly grade check and assignments. *You can sign-up for the parent portal in our office. This will allow you and your child to check grades in all classes at all times.

Absences Students are responsible for turning in all missed assignments due to absence. Students will have one week to turn in missed assignments. Students returning from an absence are responsible for asking myself or a classmate for the missed assignments from the day(s) they were absent. I will give students any missed handouts when they ask. Missed notes can be borrowed from a classmate, or they can see me after school. If your child does not turn in missed work, they will receive a 0%/ F for that work, and it will lower their grade even if the absence was excused. *You can me or contact the school on the day of your child’s absence, and I will be happy to provide their assignments for the day.

Our Class Books Pearson California Literature Novels and Biographies I do not assign a specific textbook to students since the textbooks are heavy and cumbersome. However, you or your child may check out a textbook at anytime. I can also provide your child with a sign-in for Pearson texts online.

Classroom Procedures When the tardy bell rings, students must be in their assigned seats. During teacher instruction, students do not talk unless they are directed to by myself or if they raise their hand to ask a question or make a comment. Students are expected to ask appropriate questions and provide appropriate responses. When working independently, a student may: sharpen his/her pencil as needed, complete any missing assignments, or read a library book.

Classroom Procedures Continued NO gum, Gatorade, soda, food, or candy are permitted in class. Students may bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Cell phones must be powered off and out of sight, or they will be sent to the office to be picked up only by a parent or guardian. Notes that are written, passed, or read during class will be confiscated and parents will be notified. Students must ask for permission to leave the classroom and to use the sink. Students must sign the “Exiting Log” and take the Hall Pass before leaving the classroom.

School Information Students may check out a library book. The computer lab is in room 36. Students may attend before school from 7:40- 8:00 A.M. or after school from 3:00-3:30 P.M. ASES is an after-school program that will be offered. If you are interested in enrolling your child in this program you can pick-up an enrollment packet in the office. If your child will be absent from school, parents should call and report the absence, or send a note when your child returns to school. Parents can also request their child’s assignments for all classes missed.
