WORLD LANGUAGES WEEK April

WORLD LANGUAGES WEEK IS OUR TIME TO CELEBRATE OUR LANGUAGE LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE OF OTHER CULTURES… …and earn a slice of extra credit in the process!

PARTICIPATE & EARN EXTRA CREDIT!  TASK #1 – POSTER. Create a poster advertising World Languages Week highlighting the theme “Languages Enrich Your Mind”. The poster should include an image and the dates of WLW April 11 – 15. Posters are due no later than April 8 th.  TASK #2 – FLAG DAY. Wear the flag of any country (except USA) that speaks the language you are studying.  TASK#3 – DRESS UP DAY. Dress in traditional clothing or wear an article of clothing from another country (not USA). MUST COMPLETE ALL THREE. You will earn 10 points on an assignment in whichever category is your lowest – speaking, reading, writing or listening!

Multi-part GRADED ASSIGNMENT  TEACHING DAY. All PreAP Spanish 4 students will prepare a mini- lesson to teach other classes about the culture of another country with which you are familiar or are interested in.  8-9 minute presentation in English.  Must be about a Spanish speaking country.  May work in groups of two students or alone.  Two class periods prior to presenting, you and your partner or you alone will write a journal entry about how you have prepared for your presenation.  On presentation day, each student will be required to present 30 seconds of information in SPANISH to Srta. Williams about your country. If working with a partner, you must each share different information. You can talk about school, family life, leisure activities, festivals/celebrations, music and dance, food, etc.

How will you be graded?  You will earn THREE classwork grades for your English presentation.  Your grade will come from teacher feedback about your presenation to their class.  The following rubric will be used:

How will you be graded?  You will earn a WRITING grade for your journal entry.  You will earn a SPEAKING grade for your 30 second Spanish presentation to Srta. Williams.  All grades related to World Language Week will go on the 3rd marking period. Be sure to finish the marking period out with a bang!
