Speaking English ONLY in class Starting next week, if your son speaks Thai in class his name will be moved on the Traffic Lights. After 3 times a letter will be sent home. English Only (Starts next week!)

E.P. Skills Reading, spelling, dictation, and grammar are practiced in E.P. Skills. Every Week EP Skills Activities Spelling or Dictation Given 15 words. There will also be 5 ‘bonus words’ which do not go towards their score. The boys will be given words to learn, which will be tested in a paragraph of writing. Grammar Grammar from EP Grade 4 level will be reviewed. Reading We will read as a class and have activities for comprehension and enjoyment of the story. Occasional Activities Discussion Discussion groups to develop the skills of compromising, giving opinions, listening to others. Speaking One-on-one speaking test assessed on fluency, accuracy, pronunciation and communication (once per term).

Grade 5 Textbooks and Workbooks We use My Pals Are Here! textbooks and workbooks:

iPads This year, boys in Grades 4, 5 and 6 can bring their iPad to school. We also have some school iPads for boys who cannot bring one. The iPads will be used as a learning tool in class and for extension work at home.

Edmodo and Brain Pop Every boy in Grade 5 needs to be enrolled on Edmodo and have the code to use Brain Pop. Edmodo Code: Links, presentations, movies and quizzes on here for students to do. Brain Pop Code: fun online learning at school and home.

Grade 5 Exams and Authentic Assessment A large percentage of assessment comes from Authentic Assessment of skills as well as knowledge.
