Research assignment (this will be instead of a test on this unit! Due Feb 18: Pick one of the following and write a 5 paragraph essay. Must have four sources: A) research and describe the historical development of the Big Bang Theory, including red shift, cosmic microwave background radiation, and other supporting evidence; (B) research and describe current theories of the evolution of the universe, including estimates for the age of the universe; and (C) research and describe scientific hypotheses of the fate of the universe, including open and closed universes and the role of dark matter and dark energy. Possible Sources  Dark Energy website: experiments at McDonald Observatory Dark Energy  Audio and Video resources from the +Texas Cosmology CenterTexas Cosmology Center  History of Cosmology website from American Institute of Physics History of Cosmology  Cosmic Times a NASA project on Cosmology Cosmic Times

Homework: UW  Read and take Cornell notes: Pg  You must turn these in by February 17
