Objective When you finish this activity, you will be able to: – Utilize personal cameras to take a series of leading lines photographs – Utilize combination of lens focal length, distance from subject, tripod and aperture opening to produce the desired result
What are leading lines? Lines within an image that lead the eye to another point – Inside of the image – Outside of the image
Types of leading lines 1. Natural – Rivers, tree tops, birds in flight 2. Man-made – Roads, power lines, fences, rooftops
Why shoot leading lines? Like other photo composition rules, it directs the eye where the photographer wants it to go – Can and should be used in conjunction with other composition rules
What can lead the eye?
Assignment I: leading lines 1.Bring your camera to class every day this week 2.You must shoot TEN leading lines shots DURING class – You may go into the hallway outside the classroom in pairs only – Your classroom shots need to be different; no two should be the same – Use Photoshop to edit your pics if needed 3.Aim for five pictures per day so that you finish by Wednesday 4.Turn in your classroom shots in a folder titled “Leading Lines Classroom” Create a new folder on your H drive inside your Photo Journalism folder titled “Leading Lines.” Title them [ last name ] Leading Lines Classroom1 [ class period ] Submit them in the folder to Mr. Nigrelli via Google Drive by the end of class on Wednesday, April 6 th
